National Witch Hazel Day

Today is the first National Witch Hazel Day! Considering the popularity of this astringent, it’s surprising we weren’t celebrating sooner. The witch hazel plant has been used for centuries in folk medicine, but it took off in the 19th century when the plant was first steam-distilled and sold. Today, it’s used in a variety of cleanser and toner products, as well as hair and body care formulations.

At Jedwards International, we offer three different varieties of witch hazel extract: Organic, Natural USP, and USP Standard. They are all clear, colorless liquids and carry a sharp characteristic odor.

Organic Witch Hazel and Natural USP Witch Hazel are naturally distilled Hamamelis virginiana linné and formulated with 14% natural grain alcohol. It is harvested from a wild crop native to the woodlands of New England. Our Standard USP Witch Hazel, on the other hand, is formulated with 14% ethanol. All varieties are Non-GMO and your selection may depend on your certification or labeling claims.
