The manuka bush is a flowering plant native to New Zealand and parts of Australia. Mānuka, a Māori word, is a resilient plant that has long been valued by the Māori people of New Zealand, who traditionally use its wood, leaves, bark, and other parts for building materials, tools, everyday items, and cultural practices.
Also called New Zealand tea tree, manuka is known for its hardy nature and ability to regrow quickly, even in challenging environments. Its leaves and branches are steam distilled to produce manuka oil, a distinctive essential oil prized for its warm, sweet, spicy, and herbaceous aroma.
