Whether you’re making soaps in your home studio or manufacturing in a large warehouse, soap bases are an efficient, optimal way to design and produce on both a small and large scale basis. From melt-and-pour styles to ready-to-use liquid bases, these versatile materials can be easily customized with added fragrances, colors, and various additives for your coveted end-product. Jedwards recently added two brand new liquid soaps made with organic oils to its growing catalog: Liquid Castile Soap and Liquid Coconut Soap.
Castile soap, named for the Castile region of Spain, was historically a hard soap with the first liquid version of it appearing in the late 1800s. It is traditionally made with 100% olive oil, but the definition has slightly evolved in recent times to include any plant-based oil (though some soap purists may argue against that!)
Jedwards’ latest Liquid Castile Soap is a blend of saponified organic sunflower and coconut oils. While similar in ingredients to our castile soap from Stephenson, it’s a versatile option offered at a lower price point.

Liquid castile soap base may be thickened, mixed with essential oils to create a desired premium cleanser, or rebottled and sold as a standalone retail product. With desired emollient and hydrating properties, this base is rich in vitamin E content and produce a creamy lather. Castile soap blends are commonly procured to manufacture face wash, body wash, salt and sugar scrubs, shampoos, bar soap, and liquid soap.
The other vegetable-based soap addition comes from a favored tropical fruit, coconut! Our new Liquid Coconut Soap is formulated with organic coconut oil and due to the amount of potassium cocoate in the product, it is also referred to as potassium cocoate or 40% coconut soap. This versatile base has a minimal aroma with a clear, barely-there hint of light yellow: perfectly neutral for as-is use or private label customization.
The base yields a healthy amount of lather and is often procured to enhance foam and bubbles in formulated products such as cleansers, shower gels, shampoos, liquid bubble bath, shaving cream, bar soap, and liquid soap.
